V/A - Only So Much Can Go Wrong CD

Here is a long out of print compilation that serves as a document to the Long Island punk rock scene in the late 90's. Released in 1999 on Six Pack Records (SPR#3) and Cra-Z-Stuf Records (#1). I found a little bit about this comp, but not a whole lot. This doesn't show up too often.

Some great hardcore, punk and pop punk on this comp.

Slick Shoes - Slick Shoes EP

Released on Tooth & Nail Records in 1997 (TND1073). This was their first release. And while only 4 songs, it packs the punch! Fast melodic and great. In my opinion their best release. Five O Grind being the standout track.
Some of those old Tooth & Nail releases are amazing. Slick Shoes, MxPx, The Undecided, Craig's Brother, Value Pac. ect.. Lately I have been searching out all the old skate punk / melodic pop punk bands of the 90s. While Slick Shoes weren't the first, they helped popularize it.

I picked this up at a used CD sale at a local FYE. It was something like $1.

This was released on CD and vinyl. The CD version is really easy to find. On vinyl it was pressed on blue, and black. Black being the harder to find of the 2. There is a demo tape that was sent to Tooth & Nail before they were signed, however I don't think anybody outside of the band and staff of T&N have seen it.

Kungfu Rick - Motivation To Abuse

Kungfu Rick were a thrashcore / grindcore band from around the Chicago area. They were active from 1996-2003.

Years ago when the PA Music Expo was taking place south of Lancaster, the guy from Double Decker Records was set up and had a box of CD's. I ended up buying a good bit of thrash and screamo off of him for $6 a CD. I had heard of Kungfu Rick on the NuHardcore website back in the day. (Anybody remember that site?)

This was their first full length release. There was 1500 pressed on LP, with an unknown amount  on green vinyl. The CD version includes the split 7"s with Last In Line, Luke Skawalker and Landmine. There was also a bootleg cassette from Poland. The LP's were released in 1999, and the CD in 2000.

The MP3's are ripped from the CD. So you get the bonus split 7" tracks.

Whippersnapper - America's Favorite Pastime

Whippersnapper were a great melodic punk / pop punk band from the late 90's early 2000's. This is considered their first release, but I do believe there was one before this. I know I have MP3's of that somewhere.

I picked this up at Record & Tape Traders in Westminster MD about 10 years ago. I'm sure it was super cheap. That store was AMAZING at one point. The last year or so it was around it was horrible. Rumor had it that FYE purchased them. As there were about 10 R&TT around the area. For some reason it became a strictly top 40 CD store. I miss the golden years of that place. Enough with the nostalgia!

Released on Lobster Records in 1998. It was released on CD, and LP. (10006-2 for CD, and 10006-1 for LP) Probably 2000 or more pressed.

TRACK LISTING:
1 Two Of A Kind

4 Wrong Or Right
5 Bottom Line
6 Tragic Flaw
7 Alt.guitar.com

The 4-Squares - Save The Clock Tower CD

I picked this up off a message board a few years ago for $3. Wasnt sure what to expect, as the only reason I picked it up was because I needed 5 CD's to buy to get a special discount. I gave it a listen when it arrived, and didnt like it at first. Mainly because the rest of the sellers collection was pop punk. So I gave it a second listen a few months later and was surprised on how good I actually thought it was the second time around.

It's not pop punk. Or hard to find. But its a great release nontheless. Fast chaotic punk rock.

I'm not sure when this was released, and I'm pretty sure its a discography of sorts. I have seen a lot of these songs on comps and singles.
